Speaker says he will recommend to the Tamil Nadu Government that government school students be taken to watch GDN
Chennai, August 17, 2026: GDN, the biographical drama based on the extraordinary life of legendary inventor and industrialist G.D. Naidu, received a strong endorsement from Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar, following a special private screening held over the weekend at NFDC, Chennai.
The screening was attended by J.C.D. Prabhakar, Loyola Mani, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation, Minister Gilli Sharath, and other distinguished guests.
Deeply moved by the film, Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar said that school and college students across Tamil Nadu should watch GDN and draw inspiration from the remarkable life and achievements of G.D. Naidu.
Taking his appreciation a step further, the Speaker said that he intends to formally recommend to the Tamil Nadu Government that government school students be taken to watch the film, enabling the inspirational story of G.D. Naidu to reach young minds across the state.

Speaking about the central message he took away from the film, the Speaker highlighted the importance of self-reliance, knowledge and individual skills among today’s youth.
He emphasised that young people should develop their own knowledge and abilities, use their skills effectively and contribute to the country’s economic growth instead of waiting for opportunities to come their way.
According to the Speaker, G.D. Naidu’s largely self-taught journey, despite having very little formal education, stands as a powerful example of what determination, curiosity and self-reliance can achieve.
He also stressed the importance of students identifying their individual talents and nurturing them to their fullest potential. G.D. Naidu’s journey, he noted, demonstrates how curiosity, creativity and perseverance can be transformed into meaningful innovation.
Appreciating the performances and the entire team behind the film, Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar described GDN as a stunning piece of work and summed up his response in a powerful statement:

The Speaker’s endorsement comes during the film’s second week in theatres and adds significant momentum to its growing reception among audiences, critics and trade observers.
Directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar and produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolour Films, GDN stars R. Madhavan in the titular role. The film has music by Govind Vasantha and is currently running in theatres across Tamil Nadu and worldwide
