Produced by Cynthia Production House, starring Cynthia Lourde, and written and directed by debutant filmmaker Dinesh Deena, the film “Anali” had its trailer launch and press meet held in Chennai. During the event, actress and producer Cynthia Lourde interacted with the media and shared insights about the film Anali and her journey in cinema.
Speaking at the press meet, Cynthia Lourde said:
“After Varnashramam and Dinasari, Anali is my third production venture. In this film, I have also played the lead role. However, this is not a conventional heroine character—it is something quite unique.
In the 1990s, Vijayashanthi ma’am played action roles in Tamil cinema. But Anali is the first time I have portrayed a full-length action heroine. I performed even the most dangerous stunt sequences—scenes that male heroes themselves hesitate to do—without using a body double. I took huge risks and worked extremely hard for the action sequences.
This film does not have a hero. Instead, it has multiple villains. Shakthi Vasu, son of veteran filmmaker P. Vasu, plays the main antagonist and makes his re-entry into Tamil cinema after nearly 15 years through Anali. Popular Bollywood actor Kabir Duhan Singh plays another villain. Malayalam actor Abhishek appears in an important role. Along with them, actors Ilango Kumaravel, Iniya, Jayasurya, Matthew Varghese, Ashok Pandian, Jensen Diwakar, Vinoth Sagar, Baby Shimali, and Siva have also played key roles.
Nowadays, many films lack a strong story. But the story narrated by director Dinesh Deena is a beautifully crafted one. The film moves at a gripping pace till the very last scene and will keep the audience engaged throughout. It is impossible to predict the climax until the end.
For the first time in Indian cinema history, we erected a massive set in a yard with 10,000 containers, and shot the film entirely on that set for 30 days.
Every film teaches me something new. Through this film, I learned what to do and what not to do. Entering cinema and succeeding without any background is extremely difficult. As a producer, I have been honest. I paid everyone their agreed remuneration on time, including daily allowances during the shoot. Many assumed that since I came from abroad, I would pay any amount asked. But as a producer, I am strict—in that sense, I am completely local.
Anali will be released on January 2. Red Giant Movies will distribute the film across Tamil Nadu. Even if films like Jananaayagan and Parasakthi release the following week, my film will surely continue to run successfully in theatres during the Pongal season.
I will act alongside Thalapathy Vijay, and he will definitely act in a film produced by me. Many say he has quit cinema, but I firmly believe—and I say this confidently—that within two years, Vijay will return to films, and you will witness it.”
